Why Appomattox Happenings?

Teresa Davis started Appomattox Happenings in 2018. Now, it's growing!

Hi there. I'd like to introduce myself and tell you a little about why I'm enthusiastic about Appomattox Happenings. My name is Teresa, and I moved to Appomattox in 2017. Before moving here, I got online and searched - and searched - and searched the internet to learn about daily life in this historic hometown.

Unfortunately, I didn't have much success.

I found it extremely difficult to learn, from afar, what goes on in this small town in the middle of Virginia. Where could I shop? What sort of entertainment is in town? Where is a great place for a date night? Who has the best burgers? Sure, there was some information online, but, I wanted to know more! I wanted to get connected.

When I moved here, I met many wonderful people and quickly became familiar with local churches, businesses and organizations, and that's when my love for this county came alive! There really are some cool things happening in Appomattox.

In 2018, I created a Facebook group called Appomattox Happenings... and the group has been active and growing ever since! This online group became a place where I could keep up with local events - and where others could, too!

This one little idea of keeping up with local events has turned into a community resource, and now I'm known around town as "Teresa from Appomattox Happenings." It's pretty cool, actually.

So, why did I create this website? Well, I'm passionate about connecting people with other people and resources! I've loved building our Facebook community, and now, I see the opportunity for so much more.

There are a lot of good people doing a lot of good things in Appomattox - and I want to tell their stories. I hope you'll join me on this adventure and sign up for Appomattox Happenings emails - where I'll be sharing the stories of businesses, churches, civic groups, and community leaders who make Appomattox, Virginia a great place to live, work, play, visit, and more!
